i-dle (formerly (G)I-DLE) is a South Korean girl group founded in 2018 by Cube Entertainment. The group originally consisted of six members: Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Soojin, Yuqi, and Shuhua. However, Soojin left the group on August 14, 2021, and made her solo debut in November 2023. i-dle is known for their unique musical style, which combines elements from various genres such as pop, hip-hop, and trap. They stand out from many other groups because they largely write and produce their own music.
The group debuted with the hit "LATATA," which immediately earned them international recognition. Since then, they have released a series of successful singles, including "Hann (Alone)," "Senorita," and "Oh My God." i-dle is known for their powerful stage presence and sophisticated choreography, which consistently excite their fans. Both in South Korea and internationally, i-dle has built a loyal fanbase called Neverland.
On August 14, 2021, Cube Entertainment announced that Soojin was no longer part of the group. Soojin had not participated in any i-dle activities since March after being accused of bullying during her school years by a former classmate.
The group has won numerous awards and is regarded as one of the most promising girl groups in the K-pop industry. With their unique music, charisma, and energy, i-dle has proven that they belong among the top acts in the Korean music scene.
On May 2, 2025, (G)I-DLE officially renamed themselves i-dle to mark a fresh start. The "G" for "Girl" was dropped because the group does not want to define themselves solely by their gender and seeks more artistic freedom. Originally, the name "idle" without the "G" was planned; the "G" was added later to avoid confusion. The renaming symbolizes a return to their original vision and was accompanied by a new logo and the mini album We Are i-dle.
