What is Hanteo?

Hanteo is a Korean chart that compiles all K-Pop album sales to create an overview of which Korean bands are most listened to in Korea and around the world. Founded in Seoul in 1998, the company processes all sales figures in real time. The company accesses the trading network of all Hanteo family members and analyzes this data. This data is then available on the official Hanteo website.

Why should you support the Hanteo Charts?

The Hanteo Charts are the largest chart system in Korea, followed by the Gaon Charts. However, there is a small but subtle difference between the two systems. Gaon calculates its charts based on CDs produced, not actual sales, so the results of the Gaon Charts are not truly representative.

Hanteo, on the other hand, updates this data in real time and only lists sales that have actually been sold.These charts are also an important factor when it comes to public appearances. A popular band is invited to TV shows more often, and fans can learn more about their favorite band this way.

Korean TV shows such as "Inkigayo," "Music Bank," and "Show Champion" use these figures to invite the most popular idols. Hanteo also supports fandom through its work, allowing fans to support their idols and thus strengthening the bands' influence.

Certificates (HATS – Hanteo Aided Tracking System)

Since June 15, 2020, Hanteo has also introduced new certificates for the album charts, which are updated with the new "Whosfan" app. This app gives you direct access to the sales charts/numbers (days, weeks, months, real-time, and yearly data), Hanteo News (Korean only), and all polls and events. This brings you even closer to your idols. These codes are not mandatory for our orders, as we are already an official Hanteo Family Member and automatically transmit our sales figures to Hanteo. If we have included such a HATS card in your package, you can of course redeem it at Hanteo. The app is available for iPhone and all common Android devices.
