Beasts And Natives (BANA)

Beasts And Natives Alike — usually called “BANA” — is a South Korean music and creative label founded in 2014. The company was established by former SM Entertainment employee Kim Ki-hyun and is known for its modern, artistic, and more independent style.

Unlike many traditional K-pop agencies, BANA focuses not only on music but also on fashion, design, art, music videos, and other creative projects. The label describes itself as a combination of a music, media, and art company. BANA became especially well known through artists and producers such as Beenzino, 250, Kim Ximya, Eric Oh, and Krystal Jung.

Producer 250 also played an important role in shaping the sound of NewJeans and worked on songs such as “Attention” and “Hype Boy.” Because of this, BANA gained even more international attention. Many fans see BANA as a more “artistic” alternative to major mainstream agencies like SM Entertainment or HYBE.

The label places strong emphasis on aesthetics, individuality, and creative freedom. That is why many fans thought it was fitting when Krystal signed with BANA in 2024 — her elegant and minimalist image matches the company’s style very well.
